Chemicals supplier Vision Chemicals, audio equipment supplier Soundproof, salon Be Beautiful and Sue Wilson Photography have moved into the refurbished Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, Leeds.

All four companies have taken space in Sandsgate, the historic 10,700 sq ft Edwardian Mill Office, which has recently undergone a £750,000 modernisation programme.

In recent years Sunny Bank Mills has been transformed into a modern office complex after the Gaunt family took the decision in 2008 to halt almost two centuries of textile production at the mill.

John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, said: “These four new lettings are a vindication of our belief in Farsley as an attractive out-of- town business location, even when faced with direct city centre competition. The Sandsgate building now almost fully occupied, with only one small office of 226 sq ft left to lease, and features the Sunny Bank Mills Gallery which hosts arts events throughout the year.”

Be Beautiful was founded in October 2011 by Lucy Lyttle.

She said: “After a very busy 24 months, and after taking on additional staff, we outgrew our first property, located at 4 Town Street, Farsley.

“To meet the demand we looked for a larger premises within the same area.”

Tim Jones, of Vision Chemicals, relocated from Rawdon. He said: “Customers and suppliers who have visited us think it is a great space and are wowed by it.”

Richard Tyson, of Soundproof, which provides audio solutions for companies across the UK, added: “The main reason we moved to Sandsgate was the ambience of the Sunny Bank set-up.”

The four deals follow two transactions at the end of last year for Leeds Foodbank (West) and Karen Gavin photography.

Mike Haigh, of Dove Haigh Phillips, said: “These recent deals further vindicate the capital expenditure and attention to detail the refurbishment of Sunny Bank Mills has created.”

The Sandsgate building is spread over three floors and there is on-site car-parking. Rents are in the region of £14 per sq ft.

Stuart Andrew, the Conservative MP for Pudsey, added: “I am very impressed to see such wonderful work being done to maintain and restore the heritage of Farsley.”
