A superb Art Nouveau bronze panel which once belonged to the West Yorkshire company of George Hattersley of Keighley will be going on sale at the second event by The Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair at the Great Yorkshire Showground this year.

This unique example of Yorkshire history recalls the leading role played by the George Hattersley textile factory in the history of loom making and design. Formed in 1789 at Stubbings Mill by George Hattersley, the company initially manufactured nuts, bolts, screws and small parts for textile machines but by 1834 had created the first innovative loom. The company went on to great success, with as many as 26 loom models in its catalogue.

The impressive panel was designed by the Italian maker Egido Boninsegna (1869-1948) and shown at The Milan international World Exhibition of 1906 where it was presented to the well-known Keighley textile manufacturers. Belonging to exhibitors Brian Ashbee and Wes Wotruba, the panel is now a very decorative piece and fine example of Art Nouveau Italian design. It will be on sale for £1750.00.
