Funding transforming family firm

FAMILY-owned Power and Distribution Transformers is hoping to expand its international business in Nigeria, Ghana and Iraq.

The Leeds-based business has secured bank funding to more than double the supply of transformers overseas.

PDT, founded in 1994, offers fire-resistant cast resin transformers and oil immersed power transformers.

Simon Wilson, managing Director, said: "PDT has seen substantial growth over the last two years and this funding will allow us to further increase our overseas business.

"Power generation and distribution systems are an essential part of life for development in many countries, and our products provide maximum power generation whilst reducing environmental impact."

Barclays provided the funding. The bank's Phil Dibbs, relationship director, said: "It's been great to see Simon and his team grow their business over the last couple of years and we've worked hard to create a complex international trade structure that will allow them to secure further overseas contracts."

PDT employs some 30 people and is based in Beeston.
