Furniture maker on track for expansion

A FORMER railway building has become the new home of a Yorkshire-based furniture-maker.

The Designer Factory Kitchens has moved from its base in Leeds Road, Bradford, to a new 35,000 sq ft manufacturing home in Fairfax House, Drighlington, West Yorkshire.

The 3m-turnover company, which currently employs 35 staff, moved to the ex-railway building without losing any production time.

The move has helped to create five jobs at the furniture-maker, which had outgrown its former base.

It has invested 500,000 in its new headquarters.

The firm was launched 18 years ago as a small retailer by Mike Baziw and his wife, Karen. As sales grew, they diversified into supplying independent retailers

Jonathan O'Connor, of the Bradford office of chartered surveyors Eddisons, who supervised the deal, said: "DFK is a real success story and we are delighted to have played a part in the company'sexpansion plans."
