Fyber going up in the world as group looking to take on more apprentices

The business, which was previously based at The Tannery on Kirkstall Road, Leeds, now has a new, larger home in Rawdon, Leeds, after signing a six-year lease on the premises. Fyber, which has turned over £300,000 in its first year, also encompasses another company called Fyber Inks, which sells Royal Mail-approved franking machine cartridges in the UK.

Across the two businesses, there are four members of staff, including one apprentice. But the plan is to take on two more apprentices in the near future.

Clients of Fyber Inks include Ikea and the Ministry of Defence, as well as smaller companies, while Fyber has Brain Tumour Research and Hunters the estate agents among its customer base.

Matthew Richards, a director of Fyber Inks, said: “Not only have we started two businesses from scratch with very little investment without any help from the banks, we are also starting an interview process for apprentices from Leeds City College. They will be doing a one-year apprenticeship in business admin and customer service, and after this has been completed they will be going in to full-time work with us and hopefully progressing in to a rewarding career within our business.”

Fyber is donating £2 to the NSPCC for every ink cartridge it sells.
