Geco secures funds for global growth

GECO Industries, which was started by young entrepreneur Lewis Bowen, has won a contract with outdoors retailer Go Outdoors and is set to go international after securing finance.

The company’s product, Fuel4, is a bio-ethanol gel fuel which is smokeless and non-toxic providing “an efficient and safer cooking and heating solution” for the outdoors industry, services and communities. Sheffield-based Mr Bowen has secured nearly £150,000 in loans from a number of organisations, including Sheffield Microloan, Donbac, Lombard and NatWest, after getting advice from the Sheffield Enterprise Agency.

Geco, which is now made up of a team of eight, is set to create a number of franchises in Africa and the financial support has also enabled Mr Bowen to create the tools needed to manufacture products at his factory in Sheffield, leading to an exclusive 12 month contract with Go Outdoors.

Mr Bowen launched Geco Industries in 2011 to provide environmentally friendly and safer fuel options across Africa to tackle the problems of indoor air pollution in the country.
