Go Outdoors moves to Manchester

OUTDOOR retailer Go Outdoors is moving to Manchester after agreeing a deal with Yorkshire property company Town Centre Securities to move into the city's landmark Piccadilly Basin.

The Sheffield-based retailer will move into the 55,000 sq ft site after signing a lease with the Leeds-based property firm.

Edward Ziff, chairman and chief cxecutive of Town Centre Securities, said: "I am delighted by our progress in letting this and other properties in what is a very challenging retail environment.

"Go Outdoors are a very well established retailer operating in a growth market and I am confident that they, along with existing tenant Aldi, will assist in re-establishing Urban Exchange as a major retail destination."

TCS said it had also agreed to let a shop in its Shandwick Place Estate in Edinburgh to hearing aid firm Amplifon, which has its UK headquarters in Manchester, on a 10-year lease.

Mr Ziff added: "We continue to focus on managing our portfolio and since the year end we have also agreed to dispose of two small properties in Kings Lynn and Bradford for 1.4m. Our portfolio voids are now below five per cent , down from 6.8 per cent as at 30th June 2010."
