Golf club for sale

A Yorkshire golf club which occupies 143 acres of prime land, is up for sale with offers invited in excess of £1.5m.

The owners of Leeds Golf Centre, at Wike Ridge, near Leeds, are hoping to sell the site and business as a going concern, after submitting a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) proposal.

The course has about 500 members

John Padgett of Eddisons, which is acting for the vendors, said: "North Leeds is one of the most highly sought-after parts of the region. It is unprecedented in my experience that 143 acres of such desirable land has come to market.

"There is enormous scope to extend the site and facilities."

The land, which used to be owned by Lord Harewood until he sold it in 1952, was used for agriculture land before being turned into a golf course in the early 1990s.

The 18-hole course also includes a 12-hole academy course, a 20-bay floodlit driving range and full practice facilities.
