Green light for building relaunch

The owner of one of the biggest empty office buildings in Leeds has appointed a new team to revive the building in a bid to attract tenants.

Latitude Red, in Whitehall Road, has remained empty since it was built in 2008 but real estate specialist IVG has now put together a designated team to relaunch the 120,000 sq ft block.

IVG, which also owns the landmark 'gherkin' building in London, bought out Latitude Red's original owner, Oppenheim Property Fund Management, in 2007, and has since integrated the two companies. A new management team, made up from the existing IVG and Oppenheim staff – Matt Mason, Robert Rankin and Sarah Waller, has taken over Oppenheim's portfolio.

Matt Mason, property director, said: "IVG work regionally across the UK and have holdings in all main UK cities, but this is our first purchase in Leeds."

There is planning consent for 598,000 sq ft offices in four buildings, plus 650 residential units on the 10-acre site in

Leeds. Latitude Red is the first building on the site.
