Growing Airco buys Express Refrigeration

A YORKSHIRE firm which specialises in refrigeration and air conditioning is expected to hire more staff after securing a key acquisition.

Hull-based Airco has bought Express Refrigeration & Air Conditioning for an undisclosed sum, it was announced yesterday.

As a result of the deal, three engineering jobs at Immingham-based Express have been saved.

A spokesman for Airco, which employs 45 staff and has £3m turnover, said last night: “The acquisition is a straightforward retirement deal.

“Had Airco been unable to step in, Express Refrigeration would have closed with all jobs being lost.

“The large contracts held by the company would have been taken away from the Immingham area.”

Airco plans to expands its air conditioning and refrigeration services into North Lincolnshire, and has not ruled out making further acquisitions in the area.

Neil Fisher, the managing director and founder of Airco, said yesterday: “I have a great affection for the Humber region.

“We’re looking forward to building on the great foundations already in place and maintaining the contracts to the highest possible level without any disruption to service.”

Founded in Hull 20 years ago, Airco has developed from humble roots into an organisation with a network of engineers across the UK.
