Guiding hand to help SMEs achieve potential

THE Institute of Directors’ head of corporate governance will be in Leeds next week to host an event for the organisation’s Yorkshire chartered directors’ forum.

Dr Roger Barker will be discussing his book – Corporate Governance Guidance and Principles for Unlisted Companies in the UK – which aims to help SMEs (small and medium-sized companies) achieve their potential.

The Yorkshire Chartered Directors Forum was the first of its kind and has 53 members. Together with Leeds Business School, it offers the region’s entrepreneurs the chance to improve their leadership skills through its chartered director programme.

The event is being held in celebration of the forum’s fifth anniversary and takes place at 3 Albion Place, Leeds from 4.30pm to 6pm on Wednesday, April 6.

Peter Webster, chairman of the IoD’s Yorkshire Chartered Directors’ Forum, said: “The event is designed to stimulate discussion on the issue of corporate governance principles and the issues facing SMEs in particular.”
