Haldanes shuts down last stores

Supermarket chain Haldanes, which went into administration last week, has closed its three remaining stores.

Joint administrators Brendan Guilfoyle and Chris White of The P&A Partnership, based in Sheffield, said all 26 stores in England and Scotland have now ceased trading and all employees of the remaining three stores in Tattershall, Wigton and Crieff made redundant. The total number of jobs losses is more than 600.

A website – www.insolvency4employees.co.uk – has been set up for former Haldanes staff.

Haldane Retail Group, UGO Stores, Haldanes Express and Bakery Products are unaffected by the administration and are trading as usual.

The group is owned by Yorkshire businessman Arthur Harris.
