The additional space will allow room for expansion and new jobs at the company which has doubled its turnover to 9m over the past three years. An additional 12 new posts will be created in the company's offices with the remaining eight in the engineering team,

ENER-G Switch2 supplies bespoke metering and billing technology to multi-tenancy buildings, allowing residents or businesses to monitor and control their water and energy consumption and to pay only for what they use, in some cases reducing costs significantly.

Services also include the design, installation, operation and maintenance of green communal energy schemes for both the private and public sector.

Established in 1980 as Mainmet Ltd, the company changed hands a number of times until current directors Jayne Clare and Chris Fortes led a management buyout in 2003. Although they remain with the company, it was then sold to the ENER-G group in 2007.

"Being part of the ENER-G group, we have the resources to finance capital projects and have access to energy generation technologies such as the combined heat and power that can provide a complete energy solution for our customers," said Chris Fortes.

"This is enabling us to tackle more ambitious projects and is driving our continued growth.

"We believe Saltaire's excellent public transport links and modern open-plan office environment will help to attract the very best candidates to contribute to our ongoing success story."

The new offices were opened by ENER-G Group chairman Tim Scott, who was joined by human resources manager Maria Thomson and metering manager Alan Purdie, who have been with the company for 25 years.
