Headlam group takes to the Fells

THE Headlam Group, which is one of Europe’s biggest floor coverings distributors, has signed a deal to buy a Yorkshire business which dates from the First World War.

Headlam is acquiring the business and certain assets of Roger Fell – known as Fells – with completion expected on November 29. Financial details have not been disclosed.

Fells, a distributor of residential floor covering based in Whitley Bridge near Goole, East Yorkshire, employs 35 people and has annual revenues of around £7m. Managed by Tim Fell, the business was founded in 1915 by Mr Fell’s great uncle Percy Fell, who manufactured rugs in Castleford.

Christian Hunt, of Leeds-based law firm Clarion, and Rhian Critchell, of Pinsent Masons in Birmingham, advised Fells and Headlam on the legal aspects respectively.
