Helping the young achieve potential

Yorkshire Water, Hallmark UK, Yorkshire Bank and Learn Direct will join youth projects from across Yorkshire and the Humber at an event which aims to help young people achieve their potential.

The event forms part of the national United Futures campaign, which aims to increase business engagement with the ‘out-of-school’ youth sector across England. Steve Smith, corporate social responsibility manager, Hallmark UK, will join the discussions, and provide an overview of the successful ‘Step Up to Success’ regional scheme.

Mr Smith said: “Staff volunteering is actively encouraged as part of our community strategy.”

Brian Wreakes, manager of services at the charity, In2Change, will also present a summary of its education work, which is run in partnership with South Yorkshire Police and local fire and rescue services. The charity provides mentoring support and presentations associated with the consequences of crime.

These activities are designed and delivered by victims, ex-offenders and serving prisoners. The event will take place at Bradford Council’s Future House, Bolling Road, in Bradford, from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday, January 17. For more information or to attend call Lucy Allen on 07432 636 618.
