Hiring slips below the average

FORECASTED hiring intentions in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire lag behind the national picture, according to an employment survey, but a sustained level of confidence in its jobs market exists.

The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, for which 174 employers in the Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire areas were questioned, said the region reports a net employment outlook of +2 per cent for the second consecutive quarter.

The national net employment outlook of +6 per cent builds on the first quarter of 2013 when it was also +6 per cent. The outlook is calculated by subtracting those employers who plan to reduce staffing levels from those who plan to hire staff.
