Alan Millard, chief operating officer at Hiscox UK, added: “Our York office has been a long time in the making and the finished product has exceeded all our expectations.

“It is an architecturally beautiful yet practical building and, we hope, a fantastic addition to the city.”

Jason Parker, project architect at Make Architects, said: “The building has been designed to complement York’s rich architectural heritage whilst providing a new home for Hiscox in the heart of the city.

“It has been a fantastic collaboration between York, Hiscox, the designers and contractors – each contributing to a building which conveys a sense of joy from both inside and out. We hope the building will provide a lasting legacy, enhancing its city context, and establishing a strong and vibrant Hiscox presence for years to come.”

John Phillips, regional director at contractor BAM, added: “For BAM as contractors, this new Hiscox building has been a technical and complex challenge throughout. It’s absorbed a lot of engineering and management skills, and it’s pleasing that it looks suitably impressive too. It has been an exciting challenge for us.”
