Owner Mark Goodson revealed he has sold five holiday homes and one holiday lodge, worth £330,000 in total, since the lockdown has eased.

“The demand has been quite extraordinary,” said Mr Goodson. “The interest in our park is a clear example that people don’t want to go abroad this year, and possibly not next year, because of fears about the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The idea of a staycation in the UK is now incredibly attractive for many, which is tremendous news for our embattled tourism industry. Certainly the surge in sales at Wayside has taken me back to the time when we first opened 45 years ago.”

He added: “Once it was announced that we could open in early July, we were looking forward to an exciting and productive year, following a record-breaking 2019, but we weren’t expecting anything like this. It’s been manic.

“To say I am thrilled is an understatement. This has been a stressful time for everyone in the UK, as Covid-19 brought the country to a standstill. Now, with lockdown eased, our park is thriving.”

There are currently only three caravan pitches left in the Old Park, while the Wayside Lakes Holiday Lodges development is well over half full, with only 13 lodges left to buy. Interest in these remaining lodges has been high since July 4.

“This is a very significant year for us with our 45th anniversary. My father founded the park in 1975, so it’s a time for celebration. Much has changed, politically and culturally, in those 45 years, but our park remains enduringly popular,” explained Mark.

“In fact 2019 was one of our best ever, with a raft of awards and accolades from the AA and the late Prof David Bellamy, together with some healthy sales. And, since the season ended in October, we completed sales worth £450,000, before the rush this year”

Wayside is located on a picturesque site at the village of Wrelton, between Kirkbymoorside and Pickering.

Mark explained: “If you are thinking about buying the ideal holiday home for this year, now is the time to look. We have a number of spare pitches and new lodges on the park, which are fantastic for anyone wanting to get away from it all and making a home in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.

“Despite the indifferent weather last year, we enjoyed a very happy and successful time at Wayside and we are consistently amazed and humbled by the positive comments we receive from all our owners on site.

“For those who don’t know Wayside, it is a haven of tranquillity and beauty in the North York Moors National Park. We are within easy reach of Yorkshire’s breath-taking coastline, historic market towns, world-class heritage and mile upon mile of superb walking country. Set amid North Yorkshire’s rolling, wood-fringed fields, its peace and tranquillity are perfect for those who want to escape, relax and recharge their batteries.”
