How to breathe new life into a company

KEVIN Parkin, the former managing director of Sheffield-based engineering company DavyMarkham, is to reveal how he turned the company around at an event aimed at fast-growing small and medium-sized enterprises.

Today, Mr Parkin is chairman of Parkin, which specialises in business turnaround. He joined DavyMarkham as an interim managing director and under his leadership the company went from a loss-making business to a profitable enterprise, which continues to grow. This resulted in a management buyout and the firm was sold in 2010 to Hindustran Dorr-Oliver. DavyMarkham designs and manufacturers large engineering projects.

The event is being organised by Connect Gazelles for its members, though guest companies are welcome to attend. Mr Parkin recently became one of the Connect Gazelles’ ‘Entrepreneurs in Residence’, a forum of more than 30 of Yorkshire’s leading businesspeople who give their time free to mentor Gazelle members.

It will take place at The Quadrant, Sheffield, on January 9 at 5.30pm for 6pm. If non-member companies wish to attend they can email [email protected]
