Huddersfield Town's Dean Hoyle to sleep outdoors to raise cash for homeless people

Mr Hoyle will be joined by his wife, Janet, a Town Foundation trustee, and dozens of the club’s supporters when he braves the outdoors for a night at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield.

A spokesman said: “Following the success of the first ever Big Sleep Out, the John Smith’s Stadium will open its doors to supporters and local dignitaries to raise money for causes supporting homeless people in our local community under the banner of the Town Foundation.”

“The challenge will take place on the evening of Friday March 8 2019 into the morning of Saturday March 9 2019, with Huddersfield Town hosting AFC Bournemouth later in the day. Participants are asked to fundraise at least £100 per person to take part. All of the funds raised will be used to support local homeless causes. All running costs towards the event will be covered by Dean Hoyle, ensuring every penny raised makes a difference!.”

More than 150 people took part in The Big Sleep Out in 2018 which raised £55,000 for local causes. The money was distributed to the Huddersfield Mission, the Welcome Centre, Batley Care & Drop-in, One Big Family, Batley Foodbank, Dewsbury Baptist Church and Winter Warmers.

Janet Hoyle, said: “After seeing the overwhelming support of the Huddersfield Town supporters, alongside the incredible impact the Big Sleep Out had on homelessness charities, it was an event we just had to do again.”
