Independent broker expands

The firm, which already has offices in Guiseley and Sheffield, has opened a base in Team Valley in Gateshead.

Established in 1972, the family-owned company began its expansion in 2009 with the opening of a Sheffield office. It also acquired the interests of an insurance business in Middlesbrough. 

The new Team Valley office will be headed up by Darren McArdle, as director in the North East, to provide insurance broking to both businesses and individuals.

Paul Glendinning, managing director of JMG Group, and son of the founder, said he planned to expand the company into Manchester and Birmingham in the next couple of years.

He said the business had grown by 18 per cent over the last 12 months and is expected to grow by a further 25 per cent this year.

The group has a combined fee and commission income in excess of over £3m.

JM Glendinning, which has around 40 staff, has recruited nine additional staff over the last year and plans to recruit up to six more people a year for the foreseeable future.
