Insurance giant Covea completes its relocation move to Dean Clough Mill

The firm’s new home was officially opened by Thierry Derez, Président-directeur général of Covéal. All 650 of the firm’s Yorkshire staff will be based there.

The multi-million pound redevelopment of the seventy-five thousand square foot space at the mill is part of Covéa Insurance’s long term commitment both to the continued growth of its business and to the Halifax area.

Covea Insurance Plc is the UK underwriting business of French mutual insurance giant Covéa, number one for property and liability insurance in France.

It boasts 11.4 million policyholders and last year generated more than €17.2 billion in premiums.

James Reader, Covéa Insurance CEO, said: “Halifax has been an important base for our business for over 50 years and for some time it’s been our ambition to have a single-site in Halifax.

“Our investment in A&B mills reflects the confidence we have in our business and our people, and demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in our future growth and success.

The Dean Clough Mill was once one of the world’s largest carpet factories. It closed in 1983 but has since been successfully regenerated as a commercial and artistic hub, home to some 150 businesses.
