Invesco’s farewell to £33bn man

Star investor Neil Woodford CBE is quitting Invesco Perpetual after 25 years to launch his own fund management business.

Mr Woodford is one of the best known and best performing fund managers in the UK.

He said: “My decision to leave is a personal one based on my views about where I see long-term opportunities in the fund management industry. My intention is to establish a new fund management business serving institutional and retail clients.”

Mr Woodford manages £33bn on behalf of Invesco Perpetual. His responsibilities will transfer to a team led by Mark Barnett over the next six months.

Invesco manages £70bn across a range of asset classes.
