ITM secures trial agreements

CLEAN energy firm ITM Power has secured deals with two UK companies to trial its transportable high pressure refuelling unit.

The AIM-listed Sheffield firm, which has developed unique electrolyser technology to create hydrogen from renewable energy sources, signed the agreements with DHL Supply Chain and Stansted Airport.

The trials, which will be begin in 2011, will see the operation and refuelling of two hydrogen internal combustion engine revolve technologies ford transit vehicles with hydrogen produced on site at locations operated by participating companies in the Gateway to London development area.

Graham Cooley, chief executive of ITM Power, said "They will appraise the potential of our technology to decarbonise return to base transport logisitics vehicles and address the important sustainability issue of eliminating the carbon footprint of their fuel supply."
