Javelin thrown to Linear in recruit link-up

Specialist recruitment company, Linear has acquired Leeds-based industrial recruitment company, Javelin, for an undisclosed sum.

As a result of the deal, Linear Recruitment will establish an industrial division alongside its construction arm.

The deal will also enable the company to expand its Leeds office.

All Javelin’s staff will join the Linear team at its office in Aire Street, Leeds, with immediate effect.

As a result of the acquisition of the £2m turnover company, Linear will take on 110 temporary workers.

The new division in Leeds will be known as Linear Industrial.

Industrial director Rhian Balshaw will take management responsibility of the new division which will continue to be run by the current operations manager, Sian Williams.

Ms Balshaw said: “We already have a successful industrial division operating out of our Sheffield, Milton Keynes and Walsall offices and this acquisition provides an excellent opportunity to extend this into Leeds and West Yorkshire.

“We are taking on a number of proven professionals, an established client-base and an excellent pool of candidates.

“The new division in Leeds will complement our existing construction division and we will build on this new team to help drive further expansion.”

The Javelin acquisition is the latest in a series of investments by Linear, which has recently opened offices in Newcastle and Bristol and established an oil and gas and rail division.

“Javelin was a well-established industrial recruitment specialist with an excellent reputation so we expect to be able to absorb it into Linear quickly and easily.”

Established in Sheffield in 2001, Linear Recruitment is a national independent recruitment consultancy which specialises in placing blue collar and white collar candidates in the construction, industrial, engineering, rail and commercial sectors.

It has £17m turnover, 46 staff and more than 200 clients.
