Jobs hope after US deal for Lindam

JOBS are expected to be created after a US-based developer and manufacturer of baby and toddler products bought a Yorkshire firm.

Harrogate-based Lindam, one of the UK's biggest developers of nursery products, has been acquired by Munchkin for an undisclosed sum.

The deal creates a major player in the infant product market, combining Lindam's safety gates and nursery monitors with Munchkin's products, which include a device that lets parents know if their child's bath water is too hot.

Mark Rycroft ,managing director of Lindam, said: "We are delighted to be working with such a strong and growing brand."

David Hardless, a partner with Leeds-based Park Place Corporate Finance, who advised the vendors, said California-based Munchkin would now have a distribution channel into European retailers for its products.

Lindam has 40 staff, and Mr Hardless said it was anticipated that the deal would enable the workforce to grow.

The vendors were also advised by Jonathan Jones and Paul Mann of Leeds-based law firm Hammonds.
