Jobs market declines, says study

THE jobs market has declined over the past year, especially in banking and insurance, new research has shown.

A study by employment firm Monster showed a slight fall in jobs in July despite an increase in some public sector positions.

There was a “significant” fall in online recruitment by construction companies, while jobs in finance, banking and insurance dipped for the 18th month in a row, said the report.

Julian Acquari, managing director of Monster, said the eurozone debt crisis continued to affect recruitment plans.

The study was published ahead of new unemployment figures tomorrow.
