John Mee gets funding to buy new HQ

JOHN Mee Construction has secured a funding deal worth £275,000, which has helped it buy a new property in Doncaster.

The firm, which previously leased and owned a number of small properties around the city, has been able to move all its operations under one roof at a 10,000 sq ft site at Westmoor Park. The funding was received from the Royal Bank of Scotland. John Mee Construction has an annual turnover of £2.5m and employs 40 staff.

Established in 1993 by CEO John Mee, the organisation has moved away from its original civil engineering roots to specialise in the provision and manufacture of vacuum excavation equipment.

The company has also submitted proposals to the local planning authorities to expand the new premises further, with the hope being that work will start on a new office facility later this year.

Mr Mee said: “Following the onset of the recession we knew we needed to really focus our business efforts on a niche area of the construction market in order to achieve growth and long-term survival.”
