Just the ticket for IT experts

AN IT company which helps Yorkshire County Cricket Club to run smoothly, plans to break the £1m turnover barrier by 2015.

MTech, which is part of the Leeds-based Mitchells Group, expects to win more clients and hire staff as demand for its services grows.

Chris Cadge, the company's sales director, said he believed the company's turnover would grow from 150,000 to 1m over the next five years. The number of staff is expected to grow from six to 30 over the same period.

Mr Cadge said: "We have 12 clients altogether, including Yorkshire County Cricket Club – we look after all the IT for Headingley Carnegie Stadium, in Leeds.

"We have responsibility for the IT which controls the membership cards and ticket sales. We ensure the ticket system at the gates is working correctly during the game.

"Apart from the computer system for the gates, anybody booking tickets online uses our server. It is also used in the club's shop.

"We ensure the IT systems work effectively, but we also take it one stage further and act as the IT director for these companies."

For Leeds Rugby, MTech has staff on site every day. Mr Cadge said MTech will have saved Leeds Rugby about 50,000 this year in terms of their IT costs.

He added: "You can't cope without IT – every element of the business relies on it. We never make recommendations unless we believe it will offer a return on investment.

"We are working with a number of smaller companies in Yorkshire, including Zummo, who are based in Silsden,West Yorkshire, and sell fresh orange juice machines. Theyare now on a a stable IT

platform and are looking to automate their ordering system.

"IT is driven by change. In any period of change, IT can make a real difference to the business. If a business is growing, we can help it to become more efficient."

The Mitchells Group, which has offices in Leeds, Harrogate and London, is a collaboration of professional services companies. It includes accountants, wealth managers and IT consultants.
