Keith's mentoring vocation recognised with national award

A YORKSHIREMAN has been voted Mentor of the Year in a national competition.

Keith Williams from Ackworth, West Yorkshire, has triumphed in the awards organised by directories business Yell and online mentoring site horsesmouth. co.uk.

Mr Williams advises small businesses and social enterprises, and is also a volunteer mentor. Mr Williams, 64, said: "I was keen – from the outset – to help younger people avoid some of the classic business mistakes."

He said that he wanted to encourage other people to become business mentors. Kimberley Watts-Fitzsimmons, corporate responsibility manager for Yell in the UK, said: "Mentoring has become an increasingly valued business resource.

"It's great that start-ups and small businesses are now able to tap into the knowledge and experience of people who are likely to have a wealth of business insight."
