Key roles as Morgan Sindall strengthens its Leeds office

CONSTRUCTION and infrastructure company Morgan Sindall has made two key appointments at the firm’s Leeds office.

Mark Powell has joined Morgan Sindall as an operations manager from Wates. His role incorporates overseeing control of all site activities across the region and he is working closely with senior directors to help further develop the business across Yorkshire and the North East.

Mark Millar has joined as a building services manager from Rotary Group. His role includes working with the firm’s supply chain and pre-construction department to provide support to the operational teams across the region.

Elsewhere, business adviser Grant Thornton has expanded its not-for-profit practice in the North with the appointment of Debbie Watson as a senior audit manager. Based at Grant Thornton’s Leeds office, she will work as part of the northern team, focusing on Yorkshire and the North East. She joins from the firm’s Anglia offices having spent the last five years working as an external audit manager in the not-for-profit sector.

York-based YorLab, a specialist supplier of laboratory equipment, chemicals and specialist manufacturers of scientific and bespoke glassware, has taken on Jane Harrison as general manager. She brings extensive experience in the science sector to the role, having previously founded Sciantec Analytical Services, an independent contract laboratory business, offering a specialised testing service to the animal feed, animal health and pharmaceutical sectors. She developed the company from a start-up in 1991 into a £1.25m turnover business before selling it in 2006.

Motor group JCT600 has appointed Jayne McFadzen as volume group fleet manager based in Bradford. She joined JCT600 seven years ago as Peugeot fleet sales executive, progressing to Peugeot fleet sales manager in 2007. She has 15 years’ experience in the motor trade having previously worked in fleet sales at The Co-operative Motor Group (Sunwin Motors Keighley), latterly in the role of fleet manager.

In January, JCT600 brought together its various volume fleet teams into one division. In her new role as volume group fleet manager, Ms McFadzen will lead a team managing customer and brand relationships across these motor brands as well as seeking new business opportunities.

Cedar Court Hotel Leeds/Bradford has announced the appointment of Sean Battles, who has joined the team as the hotel’s new general manager. His previous experience includes general manager positions at The Best Western York Pavilion Hotel and The Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley.
