Knight goes ‘boutique’ for project

PROPERTY investment firm Knight Knox International yesterday revealed that it plans to create a ‘boutique’ student development, in Kelham Island, Sheffield.

The project – Dunfields – would provide more than 80 students with private accommodation.

The plans have been devised by Manchester-based Knight Knox International in partnership with the architecture firm, Coda Studios.

“The decision to choose Kelham Island for this new development was an obvious one, due to the huge amount of regeneration and investment that is happening in the district, not to mention the ease of access to both of Sheffield’s universities,” David Cross, the managing director of Coda Studios, said yesterday.

Mr Cross added: “Today’s students are more commercially aware, and the aim of Dunfields is to create a boutique residence that will allow students to enjoy the comfort of city centre living, in an affordable environ- ment.”

Martin Copeland, sales director at Knight Knox International, said: “As an investment, student accommodation is relatively low risk and provides a strong profit.

“Occupancy levels continue to be high and most universities are in need of more private accommodation.”

Under the proposals, Dunfields will also have a ‘central park’ area, which the townhouses will group around.

The planned development is about 10 minutes’ walk from Sheffield city centre, and within 200 metres of a major tram stop.
