KPMG names new head of city office

KPMG has appointed a new head of office for Leeds after the man who guided the accountancy firm into a market-leading position in Yorkshire was promoted to a national role.

Chris Hearld, an audit partner, replaces Iain Moffatt, who becomes the head of national markets.

Mr Hearld joined KPMG after university and made partner at 33, one of the youngest in the firm’s history. He has led teams working with clients including Morrisons, Pace, Renew, VP, Marshall and R&R Ice Cream.

Mr Hearld said: “The firm is in a very strong position in Yorkshire and performing well, despite the ongoing challenges in the economic environment.

“The quality of Yorkshire’s businesses is utterly inspiring and constantly proving ourselves an asset to them as they pursue opportunities and manage risk in difficult times remains my top priority.”

Mr Moffatt, a member of the national board, became head of office in 2008.

Under his tenure, KPMG seized top spot from rival PwC for big ticket audit work in Yorkshire.
