Labelled with love for Print-Leeds

A YORKSHIRE-based printing firm is gearing up for growth after securing a key acquisition. Print-Leeds is continuing its expansion and buying the assets of Selpack, which trades as S&C Labels.

The £1m investment includes the acquisition of the assets and expanding its premises.

S&C Labels is based in Huddersfield but will move to the Print-Leeds factory, in Leeds, in August.

The acquisition will triple Print-Leeds’ turnover to nearly £5m and the number of employees to 40.

S&C Labels produces bottle labels.

Some of its biggest customers are companies such as Magners, Newcastle Brown and Marston’s. Print-Leeds specialises in UV Litho printing on plastic and high-quality, short-run digital work.

Rod Fisher, Print-Leeds’ managing director, said: “S&C Labels fits perfectly into our portfolio – we’re specialist printers working in niche markets and label printing expands our offering without making us a commercial paper printer. Printing on plastic ebbs and flows with the economy because it’s mainly point of sale and point of purchase work. Labels, however, are on the increase – especially with bottled beer becoming more popular.”
