Mr Birch said: "This is a partnership which will further build both brands in the region."

Kennedys has signed a deal with Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe's property firm Scarborough Group to take 16,700 sq ft of office space over two floors at the Sheffield Digital Campus site, which is held in a joint venture company between Scarborough and national partners GMI Property Company.

Kennedys have hired a total of 11 partners, largely from the Sheffield office of law firm Halliwells.

Ms Liversidge, the junior vice-president of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, said: "I am delighted to be joining forces with United – a club I have supported since childhood."

From its origins in the City of London, Kennedys has become an international law firm with 137 partners and 800 lawyers and staff.
