Lawyers launch 'survival guide' for employers

YORKSHIRE employers are being offered a "survival guide" to help them understand new equality laws.

Lawyers DLA Piper launched the pack, which offers guidance on the new anti-discrimination rules and examples of how the laws have changed, at seminars in Leeds and Sheffield.

The guide also offers companies the option to have their existing equality policies reviewed to ensure they are compliant with the new rules, or hold training sessions for staff to ensure they don't break them.

Louise Hendry, legal director at DLA Piper in Leeds said: "As much as the laws were very confusing and needed to be tidied up, the new Act has brought about changes to the law that could easily catch unsuspecting employers out.

"The seminars and survival guide are designed to give companies a clear idea of what the new requirements are and how best to apply them."
