A lesson in creative business

PUPILS from schools in Wakefield will go head to head in a competition to encourage entrepreneurialism and creative thinking.

Wakefield Girls’ High School launched the WGHS Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition for Key Stage 3 pupils in the Wakefield area. Pupils who entered the competition were asked to create a new product.

They then had to present their idea, during internal school heats last December. Each team which made it through to the final will see their idea and presentation judged by a panel of entrepreneurs. The final at WGHS on February 28 will be a full day of pitches followed by an award ceremony where the winning product will be announced.

The winning school will receive a business support package worth £25,000, which has been provided by local businesses. The intention is to provide a platform for the winning product to go to market.
