A YORKSHIRE holiday park is gearing up for expansion after gaining new owners.

Lifestyle Living Group, one of the UK's biggest holiday park owners, has bought the Yorkshire Dales park in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, in a deal worth more than 2.5m.

The company, which is based in Peterborough, plans to start a 10m investment programme on the site.

Tony Barney, Lifestyle Living Group's owner and chairman, said: "Leyburn is the latest part of our buy and build expansion strategy. We have bought this location out of administration from Allerway Leisure and we intend to promptly transform it into a five-star park.

"We are going to turn it into an upmarket development. This is just the latest piece of our expansion jigsaw and we are looking for similar deals across the country."

Mr Barney, who has more than 30 years experience in the holiday parks market, added: "We're always on the look out for opportunities like this, and when we heard that the Yorkshire Dales park was on the market, we moved quickly."

Lifestyle Living Group plans to create five jobs at the Yorkshire Dales park following the acquisition.

Peter Andreou, the chief executive of Lifestyle Living Group, told the Yorkshire Post: "Yorkshire Dales is one of many acquisitions the group will be announcing in the coming months.

"We welcome approaches from other park owners in the Yorkshire region as we are looking to expand our business further.

"We look for locations which offer tranquility for residents, yet are situated close to towns or villages with essential amenities and great transport links – locations which offer the best of both worlds."

The Yorkshire Dales Park acquisition is Lifestyle Living Group's third significant deal since May.
