Live insect feed provider’s deal to cut down on running costs’ plague

A YORKSHIRE company that supplies live insect feed to the exotic reptile trade is hoping to cut running costs at its four heated breeding centres after signing a deal with Orchard Energy, which is based in Elland, West Yorkshire. Livefoods Direct in Dinnington, South Yorkshire, is the only commercial breeder of live mealworm in the UK, producing 1.2 million crickets, 150,000 locusts and between 1.5 and 3.5 tonnes of mealworm, depending on the season. Orchard Energy will work with management to identify the best prices in the market, so the company’s overheads remain low. Pictured is Nohman Ali, of Orchard Energy, with some friendly locusts.
