Logistics confidence grows

BRITAIN’s logistics businesses are becoming more optimistic, according to research from Barclays and Grant Thornton.

However, too many firms are focusing on cost cutting and sticking to their core business which is restricting innovation, the report argues. The UK Logistics Confidence Index, which includes a survey of key decision makers from the UK logistics industry, indicates that many businesses plan to invest over the next six months.

Ian Marwood, a partner in corporate finance at Grant Thornton in Yorkshire and the North East, said yesterday: “The next 12 months is likely to be a period of consolidation in the sector, creating more companies of scale who are able to invest in innovation and diversification.”
