Long delays in South Yorkshire rush-hour chaos
DRIVERS in South Yorkshire faced long rush-hour delays this morning after a spate of accidents and breakdowns closed two main routes.
One lane of the M1 was blocked southbound between junction 36, the A61 at Birdwell, and junction 35, the A629 at Rotherham.
On the A1, a three-car pile-up closed the northbound carriageway at Blyth South, near the A614 Bawtry Road junction. Congestion backed up to Elkesley Village turn off.
