Magnetic foil launched to save energy

Warmroom, a magnetic foil that stems heat loss from the back of radiators, is the latest innovation from the £4m turnover Sheffield firm, which sells to customers in the UK and Europe. The company, which employs 40 staff, claims the product could make significant carbon savings by reflecting waste heat back into rooms.

The magnetic foil is attached to the back of radiators and claims to reduce the amount of heat escaping through walls by up to 60 per cent.

It has been tested by Sheffield University and trialled by tenants of South Yorkshire Housing Association, university representatives and employees of National Energy Action.

Inventore Mike Burton said of the product: “The colder it is outside, the better the product works and it is really effective in preventing heat loss in houses, schools, hospitals, offices – in fact any building heated by steel radiators mounted on outside walls.”
