Managing director for the North named by Santander Corporate

SANTANDER Corporate & Commercial has appointed Damian McGann as managing director for the North of England.

Mr McGann has been with the bank for four years and previously held the role of head of business development for Santander Corporate & Commercial in the UK.

He has more than 25 years’ experience in corporate and commercial banking, holding many senior roles across the UK.

Santander Corporate & Commercial has 18 corporate business centres in the North of England, including centres in Sheffield and Leeds.

Meanwhile, BHP Corporate Finance has appointed Matt Tice, who has recently joined the team in Leeds as a manager, having previously worked at Mazars. He has worked on a number of high profile deals over the past 12 months, most recently the disposal of Stobbarts Limited to the US firm Jacobs Engineering.

Elsewhere, Leeds-based Phoenix Dance Theatre has announced the appointment of Asda’s corporate affairs director Paul Kelly as chair of the board following the death of Robert Robson last September.

He and new board member CidaCo managing director, Keith Evans will work closely with executive director Lesley Jackson, artistic director Sharon Watson and the existing Phoenix board members.

Two South Yorkshire property managers have joined the new Sheffield-based agency Commercial Property Partners (CPP) LLP. Lee Buchanan and Adam Richardson, formerly of Priority Sites, have linked up with CPP, which was launched in the autumn by Toby Vernon and Roger Haworth.

Scunthorpe-headquartered Nisa, the buying group for independent retailers, has appointed Etienne Botha as head of digital with the task of driving online strategy and increasing the focus on social media marketing.

Mr Botha joins the company from Premier Farnell. The marketing team will also be bolstered by the appointment of Emma Hodgkinson as consumer insight executive, while Rachel Dawson and Laura Ashbridge join the company as brand managers for the Nisa and Loco brands. The PR team also expands with Lucy Greensmith joining as PR and communications executive. Business advisory firm Grant Thornton has expanded its Yorkshire tax practice with the appointment of Mike Crawley as a senior manager.

Mr Crawley began his career as a tax inspector with HM Revenue & Customs before joining Pannell Fitzpatrick & Co Leeds, which later became PKF. Based at Grant Thornton’s Leeds office, Mr Crawley joins the company from BDO where he was tax director following the merger with PKF.

Shipley-based Keycare, which provides insurance for lost and stolen keys, has promoted three of its 35-strong team to the roles of associate director.

Matthew Lindsay, Gaynor Owens and Christine Smith have been jointly employed by the second generation family business for two decades in positions spanning sales, new business development and operations.
