Manufacturer comes up trumps with equipment for Army

The Bradford-based company, which has increased its turnover by 29 per cent from 2.1m to 2.7m in the last 12 months, completed a contract to supply the Army with equipment, including cabinets, for use in its blood bank unit.

The firm, which employs 26 people, sells its products, which include examination couches, trolleys, screens and cabinets, through distributors in the UK, Europe and further afield. Customers include the NHS, private hospitals, veterinary practices and nursing homes.

It was set up in 2004 by business partners Tim Wright and Marc Byrnes, who met when they were both working for a healthcare equipment company.

"We recognised a niche for a company which could provide a complete service from design through to build, supply and installation of medical furniture and equipment for use in surgeries and consulting rooms," Mr Wright said.

He added: "We felt confident that by combining our talents and strengths – my background is industrial design and Mark's is marketing – we could successfully run our own company."

The business started in a small unit in Bradford and quickly expanded until it occupied five units. Last year, the company relocated to a 14,000 sq ft modern building on the Euroway Trading Estate in Bradford.

It receives advice and support from the Manufacturing Advisory Service Yorkshire & Humber, which provides hands-on advice and support to manufacturing businesses to improve productivity and efficiency.
