Manufacturer sees turnover go up by 20pc

ELECTRICAL equipment maker Hyco Manufacturing is expected to announce a 20 per cent increase in turnover when it submits its annual accounts at the end of the month.

The family firm predicts it will report a 3.2m turnover for the 12 months to the end of March compared with 2.7m the previous year.

The Castleford-based company said it was helped by a 35 per cent boost in sales during the final three months of 2009, compared to the same period in 2008. Sales in November were the highest for any month in the company's 20-year history.

Hyco produces electric water heating and space heating equipment, plus hand dryers, for wholesalers and distributors. Its products are used in offices, schools, hospitals, pubs, restaurants and flats.

Kirsty McHugh, who owns the company with husband Mike, said: "The performance vindicates our philosophy of keeping things straightforward and doing the basics well. Our aim is quite simply to deliver more innovative products, more efficiently and at lower prices than our competitors."

Mrs McHugh said a recent staff re-organisation meant it had a dedicated technical manager.
