Manufacturers attend launch event for revamped support programme

A NEW-look version of a business support programme for manufacturers has been launched.

The official launch of the new Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) across the Yorkshire and Humber region was held yesterday at Leeds-based Agfa Graphics, which manufactures inkjet equipment for the pre-press sector.

The new MAS is available to all manufacturing businesses across England and is delivered by the Manufacturing Advisory Consortium (MAC), which is comprised of Grant Thornton, Pera, WM Manufacturing Consortium and manufacturing consultants SWMAS.

MAS is funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

The MAS has worked with thousands of manufacturers across the country with the aim of helping them to improve productivity and competitiveness.

The new-look MAS promises to offer a wider range of support and hands-on advice, including how to develop marketing and sales plans; establish innovative new products, services and design and develop a growth strategy, incorporating advanced manufacturing capability.

It also aims to help with putting the right financial measures and IT solutions in place and delivering in-house training and support.

Manufacturers from across the region attended the launch event.
