May God bless her... and all who sail in her

HMS Ambush, the UK's second Astute class nuclear submarine, was named yesterday by Lady Anne Soar, the wife of the Royal Navy's Commander in Chief, with the traditional breaking of a bottle of champagne.

Around 2,000 people attended the ceremony at Barrow in Furness in Cumbria, described by maker BAE Systems as a "hugely significant" moment.

Ambush commander Peter Green said: "Ambush is fuelled for life and is a significant step forward from the previous class of submarines."
