Mending Rooms let at historic mill

But the Mending Rooms at the Sunny Bank Mills complex, which dates back to 1829, is now a 21st century office space which is fully-occupied following lettings to a packaging services company and a ground remediation firm.

SGS Packaging Europe and Geo 2 Remediation are the latest tenants to move into the 10,000 sq ft building at the complex in Farsley, between Leeds and Bradford.

The three-storey building, which has panoramic views across the Aire Valley, recently underwent a £500,000 refurbishment, with all nine offices let before it was finished.

More than 250 jobs have now been created at 48 companies at Sunny Bank Mills, one of the most well-known family-owned mills in Yorkshire, where Emmerdale and Heartbeat were once filmed.

John Gaunt, joint managing director of owner Edwin Woodhouse, said: “It is a massive achievement for us to have let all nine suites at the Mending Rooms before the £500,000 refurbishment was completed. We feel proud to have done this in a challenging market for commercial property.”

He added: “We are delighted to welcome our two brand-new new tenants to The Mending Rooms. Four other businesses, meanwhile, have moved into The Mending Rooms this year, including an IT company and a photographic studio. There are now 49 people employed at The Mending Rooms.”
