The Met to check in with a fresh look

A PROGRAMME of renovation is planned for The Sheffield Metropolitan, a hotel which runs under the new name after having been bought out of administration.

The hotel said the programme will include a facelift for both the accommodation and public areas. Hotel manager Ian Slater said: “The Met will stand out from the crowd for its bespoke approach to customers.”

Formerly known as The Park Inn in Sheffield, the hotel was previously owned and operated by WG Mitchell (Guernsey) No 7, which appointed Ernst & Young as administrators. The business was part of a group of property companies that had suffered from the decline in the property market, said Ernst & Young.

In October last year, the hotel was bought by West Register, which acquires properties from distressed situations and is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group. It is now managed by hotel management company Bespoke Hotels. All 44 former Park Inn employees were retained including Mr Slater. He said: “Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we treat guests like individuals.”
