'Milestone' in growth of back clinics

LEEDS-based Freedom Back Clinics is celebrating its first birthday with the announcement that it will be opening clinics in Manchester and London before the end of the year, creating 16 jobs.

Leases have been signed for an 1,100 sq ft unit in Canary Wharf in London and a 2,500 sq ft property in Cross Street in Manchester. The company is planning to fit out the two properties in October and November and start treating patients a month later.

The company plans to open a further five clinics next year in high street locations throughout the UK.

Entrepreneurs Andrew Thirkill and David Hood, launched Freedom Back Clinics in Leeds last year, with a plan to create a nationally branded network of 40 specialist chiropractor, osteopath and physiotherapy clinics within five years.

Diane McKerracher, the chief executive of Freedom Back Clinics, said the opening of the new clinics will be a key milestone in the company's expansion.
